Music has always been a part of Dr. Baber’s soul, from childhood
to when he graduated as a doctor and even when he was a Civil Services Servant.
He caters to a wide range of vocals taking inspiration from the classical,
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Parveen and Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, to the western
maestros, Iron Maiden, Skid Row and Dream Theater. These not only influence him
greatly but also add flavor to his ‘compositions’.
‘The
Karachi Nama’, by Dr. Khan, an ode produced as a tribute to the city of lights.
Karachi is characterized as something wild, something that never sleeps. This
character can be further compared with an enormous Sindhi Rilli (a patchwork of
various colours and patterns that looks very pleasing when put in one place). The
song describes Karachi in a positive light and explains how, the amalgamation
of all the cultures from the subcontinent, gives a pleasant zest to Karachi. It
is also the city’s forward looking and buoyant people which enable the city to
outshine in comparison to the other cities. Karachi’s culture has strong roots
in the past, and branches in the future, a tree under whose shade people find
abode. .It feeds them, wipes their tears, puts smiles on their faces,
lulls them to sleep, it even bears in silence the wounds that they wield.
Karachi welcomes everyone, it doesn't turn them back. It offers opportunities,
brings out hope, and in doing so burdens itself with shouldering the ailing
economy. The song makes it absolutely clear the Karachi has got it, and it has
every right to flaunt it.
“I hope that “The Karachi Naam” will move everyone who loves Karachi.
It will help us realize this undeniable fact that Karachi pays a very critical
role in Pakistan’s development”. The writer & composer of this video, Doctor Khan said.
He is working on his upcoming video “Dua-e-Ranmadan”which will
be released in the Month of Ramadan. The music producer is Aqeel Ahmed & the video is directed by
Farrukh Sheikh. The chief guest of the show was M. Ali Rashid the MNA of
